Slow drains across the whole house, sewage backing up, or a suspected sewer line failure — Mechora investigates with camera inspection first, then recommends the right fix. Serving Ontario homes.
High-pressure cleaning of the main sewer line from house to municipal connection point.
Waterproof camera identifies blockage, damage, root intrusion or pipe condition — see before you commit.
Repair cracked, offset or damaged sewer pipes — targeted fix to restore flow and integrity.
Full sewer line replacement where repair is not viable — proper material for Ontario soil and climate.
Emergency clearing of sewage backup — diagnose root cause and prevent recurrence.
Root intrusion cleared from sewer lines via mechanical cutting and hydro jetting.
Pipe lining or pipe bursting — sewer repair without major excavation where conditions allow.
Tell us what you're seeing — which drains, how long, any backups or smells in the house.
Camera inspection is standard before recommending sewer repair — we show you the footage.
We provide a written scope, method recommendation and timeline before any work proceeds.

The main sewer line connecting an Ontario home to the municipal sewer system is, for most homeowners, invisible until it fails. Clay and cast-iron pipes installed in homes built before 1980 are particularly vulnerable — root intrusion from mature trees is the leading cause of failure in older neighbourhoods, as roots naturally seek the moisture and nutrients in sewer lines. Grease accumulation, pipe settlement causing offset joints, and simple age-related deterioration are the other major factors. The challenge with sewer line problems is that the symptoms — multiple slow drains, gurgling toilets, floor drain backups — can point to several different causes, and the right fix depends entirely on what the camera reveals. Clearing a root-blocked line without addressing the roots returns the homeowner to the same problem months later.
Mechora's standard approach to sewer complaints is camera first. We deploy a waterproof drain camera to inspect the full length of the sewer line from the cleanout to the municipal connection — or as far as conditions allow. The footage shows us exactly what we're dealing with: root intrusion, a cracked or collapsed section, pipe offset, or simply a heavy grease deposit that will respond well to hydro jetting. We review the camera footage with you and provide a written assessment before any repair or cleaning work begins. Where trenchless repair methods (pipe lining or pipe bursting) are appropriate, we will say so — and where they're not suitable for a given pipe condition, we'll be direct about that as well.
The most common causes are tree root intrusion into older clay or cast-iron pipes, grease accumulation, pipe age and deterioration, pipe offset from ground settling, and debris accumulation. Camera inspection identifies the exact cause so we can recommend the right solution rather than clearing the symptom temporarily.
Trenchless repair is a method of repairing or replacing sewer pipes without digging a full trench across your property. Pipe lining inserts a new pipe liner inside the existing pipe; pipe bursting replaces the old pipe by pulling a new pipe through it. Not all sewer lines and soil conditions are suitable — we assess on-site and provide an honest recommendation.
Signs include recurring sewage backups, multiple failed repairs at the same location, a pipe that appears collapsed or severely cracked on camera, or a pipe material (clay, cast iron, Orangeburg) that is at end of life. We provide an honest assessment after camera inspection — repair versus replacement is always our recommendation based on what the camera shows, not on which option costs more.
Some sewer backup endorsements cover interior damage from sewage backup. Coverage for sewer line repair or replacement itself varies significantly by policy and insurer. Check your policy or contact your insurer — we can provide documentation of the issue, camera footage and a written scope to support a claim.
Simple repairs and targeted clearing typically take 1 day. Full sewer line replacements depend on length, depth, access and method — generally 2-5 days for a typical residential line. We confirm timeline in the written scope before starting work.
Yes — camera inspection is standard before recommending sewer line repair or replacement. This lets us show you exactly what the problem is, on footage you can see, before any work begins. We do not recommend excavation or major sewer work without first confirming the diagnosis on camera.
